Don’t you hate it when you miss someone’s birthday? Or find out about your friend’s new job after it’s not so new anymore? With MyLife, you won’t miss the major life events of the friends and family with whom you’re connected. We have a Life Events area built into your Messages page where it is all listed for you and for a longer span of time than your other social media sites. Plus, you can broadcast your own events or just post them on your profile page.
Seeing Life Events from Your Connections
Life Events from the people you are connected to on your social networks appear in a feed on your MyLife Messages page. Special dates such as birthdays and job changes are aggregated from all of your social networks, but unlike with other networks, you’re able to view a longer time span of events. You will be able to see events that happened in the past two weeks, or those that will occur in three weeks, so you never have to worry about missing something important in the lives of your connections.
Posting a Life Event to Your Profile Page
To post a life event, go to your profile page, and scroll down to “Life Events.” By default your birthday will appear here. You can add a life event by clicking the button “ADD LIFE EVENTS”.
A pop-up box will appear with a category pull-down menu. Select the category it falls under. Then tell the story of your event by typing in details you would like to share with your followers and contacts.
This Life Event post will now appear under your “Life Events.” You can remove it at any time by clicking the “edit” link.
Anybody who views your MyLife profile page will now see your Life Event on your page. Over time, this will provide a nice chronicle of major events that happen in your life and tell your story on your profile page.
What life events do you share with your social network? Tell us about them in the comments below.
