If a picture’s worth a thousand words, then just imagine all the things we can communicate about ourselves through our photos. To make your MyLife profile stand out in a crowd of 700 million — especially those that have the same name as you — we recommend uploading a few shots of yourself. At a time when nearly every phone is equipped with a camera, it’s never been easier to put your best face forward on MyLife. You can upload and store photos, and create photo albums of your favorite memories to share with your contacts.
Here’s how:
Uploading a Profile Photo
- Log in into your MyLife profile.
- Click on the profile image and you will be prompted to choose an image file from your computer.
- Choose an image for your profile shot and click “Add Photos.”
Choose a photo that reflects you best. If you plan to use your MyLife profile to connect with friends and family, you may choose a photo that shows you doing something you love, such as traveling, cooking or hiking. However, if you plan to use your profile to network professionally, we recommend a classic portrait shot, complete with a presentable outfit and a big smile.
If at any time you decide you’d like to change your profile picture, you can easily do so by repeating the above-mentioned steps.
Uploading Individual Photos
- Click on the “Photos” link on your profile page.
- Click “Add Photos.”
- Click “Next” to upload individual photos, or you can create an album to house a group of photos (more on that later).
- Click “Choose file” to upload an image from your computer. Select the image file that you want to upload from the pop-up box that appears. Then click the “open” button in the lower right corner of the box.
- Click “Upload Photos!”
While you may upload as many photos as you’d like, you can only do so one at a time. Your images will appear in the order that you upload them, and you can add a title, caption and date if you’d like.
If you would like to share the photos you’ve added with others, you can send an announcement to your “Contacts” list. Simply click on the photo in your album you want to share to enlarge it. Write a message in the box provided, and click “SHARE.”
Creating an Album
- Click on the “View Photos” link on your profile page.
- Click “Create Album,” and you will be prompted to name the album.
- Click “Create!” and begin uploading photos into the album, or you can move previously uploaded images into the album. When uploading a new image, you can add a caption and date in the fields provided.
- You can add the date and description/name of the album in the fields provided on your Photos page.
Click “view album” to review the photos you uploaded and feel free to share them with your contacts by following the previously outlined photo-sharing steps.
Who Can See What?
When someone searches for you on MyLife.com, your search result will appear, including your profile picture. When someone visits your profile, they can view your other photos by clicking the “View Photos” link. Because family, friends and professionals may be looking to connect with you on MyLife, we recommend that you only post photos that are appropriate for these audiences and help you shine online.
